Why is an early music education so important for children?
Already for preschool children it is important to be confronted with music and musical impressions, to deal with them and to include them into their lives. As many studies verify music does not only amuse the children but it also plays a prominent role concerning their personal positive development.
While singing – alone or together – particularly the combination of speech and melody is trained. When instruments are used as well the brain is intensively claimed by a complex interaction of all components, because at the same time cognition, concentration and the coordination of head and hands (rhythm, keys, strings, tones or notes) are to be combined, processed and comprehended.
Musical impressions inspire the childrens' emotions. Making them recognize and understand their world in a better way these impressions are an important part of the social and personal development of children.
Our brain need musical impressions also for the precise growth of speech.
Music and speech together are one object. Sentences and words are not expressed monotonously but they are liable to musical rhythms, sounds, pitches and speech pauses. Hearing and speech are a unity and are adopted from mother and father already in the early years of life. Further processed they are soon related to their surroundings. The melody of speech is a fundamental indicator for realizing and comprehending the sense of words and finally for establishing relations.
Psychological studies confirm:
Children are associating their environment and their behaviour with music and the other way around. Through music they learn to deal with their feelings and emotions better and thereby they can challenge themselves in music. By getting to know the four basic feelings anger, sadness, fear and joy they not only learn to understand them better but they also will be able to organize their mood in different ways. In this vein they will get steadier as well as they will learn how to express themselves correctly. Negative emotions such as aggrasiveness and disinterest are to be commanded better and they can be relieved faster. Musical educated children are more creative, can concentrate better than others and keep things longer in mind. They are able to connect their knowledge with new stuff, to enhance it and to associate it with their surroundings.
Starting already during the embryonic phase music is one of the most important human ways of communication and it is continued in the entire life of the child. In particular music – in it's complex entity – is necessary for the linguistic and social expression of children and for their healthy development in general. This turns music into the foundation of an emotionally and rationally fulfilled life.
